Having a firm conviction is very important. Everybody has his or her own standard for everything, which is different for each individual. If everyone had the same standard, there would be no conflicts, no fights. Therefore, a fixed idea can be defined as an individualized standard. It is very hard to break fixed ideas since everybody believes they are right. However, in order to expand one's knowledge sometimes one needs to break it.
I believe that it is soon time to realize that Western medicine has reached its limitation with quite a number of diseases, especially circulatory disease since there certainly are incurable diseases within Western medicine. I don't understand why they can't accept it. Is it that they feel the unfairness because of the time they have invested? Or is it because they will lose a chance to make more money? If it is not, then they need to think about whether the clinical treatment they are performing now is for treating a disease or just an instant treatment. They need to accept that sometimes, Western medicine makes things worse. There are several reasons for my assertion as follows.
First, the definition of treatment is to help an organ to recover its original function, not to supply the organ with lacking substances. I don't think that Western medicine promotes a functional recovery of each organ whether it is intentional or not.
Second, as for chronic illnesses such as arthritis and gastritis, antibiotics and pain relievers don't work any more and even make these symptoms worse. The inflamed body part is where blood stasis is blocking the blood vessels. Therefore, antibiotics can hardly reach it since it moves along the blood vessels.
Third, for nervous diseases, things are even worse. Our spirit cannot be figured out through numeric analysis. Besides, although the body and spirit are totally different there is a close correlation between them, like the saying ¡° Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit¡±. But Western medicine seems to ignore the relationship between our body and spirit and tries to cure those illnesses with numerical data. I am sure that the Shimcheon Phlebotomy can cure those illnesses better than any other treatment.
We need to think about the ultimate goal of medical treatment. If it is to treat illnesses, then accurately recovering one's health, with no side effects or recurrence, is more important than ownership of an academic degree or medical license. I am serving medical treatment only by means of the principle of nature. I would like to recommend that both Western and Oriental physicians apply the principle to their theories. By adapting the principle, they need to change their approaches to disease. They need to break their smug ideas.
