Although the theory of physical constitution is well known and accepted in Oriental medicine, I have a different opinion about it. The theory categorized physical constitutions by using terminology such as Taeyang, Taeum, Soyang, Soum and allergic constitution, with suitable food and medicines for each category. However, it does not make sense to me. As far as I know, if a person has a stout upper body with well-developed muscles, he/she belongs to the Taeyang type. If someone has a stout upper body but their muscles are not sufficiently developed, he/she belongs to the Taeum type. If a person has a stout build and muscles in the lower part of the body, he/she belongs to the Soyang type. If one has a stout build but insufficient muscles in the lower part of the body, he/she belongs to the Souem type. In addition, if a person's body temperature is lower than average, he/she has Yin constitution; if higher, the person has Yang constitution. According to the theory, each person should take a different type of medicine for the same symptoms as the constitutional type.
In my opinion, the difference between the upper and lower parts of the body is not a constitutional factor but the amount of blood that flows in the body part. I had a patient who had an inverted triangle body shape, but after performing the treatment on #6 and #38 point, the patient came to have a well-balanced body shape. As for body temperature, it depends on the function of the kidneys and flow of blood. Many people have a misunderstanding about body temperature. Some people who prefer cool places to warm believe that they have a higher body temperature than others, however, it's just the opposite. The temperature you feel is inversely proportional to your actual body temperature. If you have a lower body temperature than average, you should feel hot in lower temperature than other people and start perspiring in lower temperature, and your blood pressure also will rise. These types of people have functional problem with their kidneys and tend to frequently be exhausted and become swollen. In addition, in most cases, they also have a symptom of either hypertension or hypotension. Since I've already explained hypertension, I am going to explain about lower body temperatures.
With kidney malfunction, uric acid and blood can get mixed and this causes blood stasis. Then the blood flow slows down, and therefore the body temperature goes down. If this goes on for a long time, the patient can develop low blood pressure (hypotension) and angina pectoris. Angina pectoris can endanger the patient's life since this symptom shows that quite a large percentage of blood vessels are already blocked. If the patient has a lower body temperature only, performing the treatment on #2 and #3 point and #6 and #8 point consecutively will cure the symptom.
Performing the treatment on #5 and #2 point on hypotension patients could cause the blood pressure to fall further and therefore endanger the life. But it proves that the cause of the symptom is right. Although it can be dangerous to treat hypotension, those points are very important. In case of coma, I can continue the treatment by opening the Sips e on points . Though it is tough for both patient and physician, the condition will improve as the amount of blood increases. Please note that my explanation about hypotension is for a professional physician and not for domestic treatment.
There is a saying that one's physical constitution can change by aging. In fact, the cause of the change is kidney malfunction caused by too much blood stasis at #8 point. As a result of that, the amount of uric acid increases in the blood, and it irritates each cell to show oversensitive reaction to the stimulus, which is called allergic constitution. In addition, the cause of being overweight for older people is also a malfunction of the kidneys. As I explained, those people tend to develop complications such as hypertension, hypotension, diabetes and allergies.
I often witness examples of a hypertension patient who was told by their doctor that they have to avoid ginseng, honey and Nogyong because they have high blood pressure, reddish faces and high fever, which are typical examples of the Taeyang constitution. However, doctors should not put a limitation on food since our body needs balanced nutrition. Before classifying physical constitutions, doctors should figure out the cause of each symptom and find a way to eradicate the cause.
There are too many hypertension and paralysis patients with the patients' getting younger. The number of patients will increase if the situation goes on as it is. However, I am sure that the Shimcheon Phlebotomy will not let diseases such as hypertension, paralysis or dementia paralytica overcome you simply by removing the ultimate cause.
